More money for tree fruit replant program

A financial boost for BC’s Tree Fruit Replant Program.

The provincial government has thrown an additional $1-million dollars into the duration of the seven year program.

It helps tree fruit growers replant their orchards with high-value, high quality fruit varieties, which helps increase sales values.

BC Fruit Growers Association President Fred Steele says the program has helped the cherry industry and apples are next.

Steele says more people applied than anticipated last year and drained the revenue of the program.
