The City Of Castlegar has awarded the contract to construct a so-called anoxic zone at the South Sewage Treatment Plant.
Maglio Installations will be in charge of building the add-on which will cut back on the plant’s dependency on chemicals.
Here’s Chris Barlow, Director Of Transportation And Public Works.
The city added $130,000 to the project’s original budget of $350,000.
Barlow says a rise in equipment costs and an increased scope for the body of work contributed to the hike.
The difference will come out of the city’s sewer reserve fund.
