Could windfall help SD 20 bus situation?

There is strong support from the chair of the Kootenay Columbia school board to put an unexpected windfall towards the new bus charge.

Faced with a $750,000 shortfall SD 20 opted to start charging each child $200 a year to use the school bus.

But last week the province announced they wouldn’t be billing for admin fees. That means a $178,000 saving for SD 20.

Teri Ferworn would like to see all of it subsidize the busing.

She says trustees will meet Tuesday to discuss what to do.
