New economic development plan in works

A new economic development strategy is unfolding in the Creston area.

The Creston and District Economic Action Partnership encompasses the Town of Creston, RDCK Areas A,B, and C, Lower Kootenay Band and Kootenay Employment Services.

Spokesperson Laura Hannant says it is an unprecedented model for this area but makes sense.


The group is hoping to cash in on the BC Rural Dividend Fund through a partnership application for close to $300, 000.If successful, the town, rural areas and Lower Kootenay Band have committed to investing $20, 000 each and KES will kick in $180, 000.
