Winston Blackmore loses court appeal

Accused Bountiful polygamist Winston Blackmore has lost another battle in court.

It gives the green light for the issue to be tested in court.

A BC Supreme Court judge has dismissed a second appeal regarding the way Special Prosecutor, Peter Wilson, was appointed by the province.

Wilson is the third Special Prosecutor assigned to the case since 2007.

In September, the Attorney General signed off on a request by Wilson to head straight to trial, foregoing a preliminary hearing.

Blackmore allegedly has more than two dozen wives.

He’s opted to be tried by judge and jury.

No court date has been set.

Blackmore is the leader of the religious group near Creston.
