Johnson Flats to be natural protected area

Grand Forks is looking to change important city property into protected land.

The area known as Johnson Flats will be the first wet lands in Grand Forks to be designated a natural protected area.

Councilor Chris Hammett discusses what they plan to do once the area is rezoned

While no money has been committed to the project yet, Hammett says the rezoning is an important first step to take.

Grand Forks was selected as one of five communities in Canada to take part in in a eco asset management pilot project.
