The provincial government is pumping just over $135, 000 into our region to fight invasive plant species.
The Central Kootenay Invasive Species Society is one of three local organizations to receive funding.
Executive Director Jennifer Vogel says the $65, 000 funds their numerous projects aimed at battling invasive plants.
The society also works with private landowners to help identify invasive plants on their property.
Invasive plants are species that have introduced to BC from other areas and can cause social, environmental and economic damage.
