More school closures next week

BC Teachers’ rotating one-day strike action will continue next week as talks between the BCTF and government failed to show progress in the ongoing contract dispute.

Kootenay Columbia and Arrow Lakes schools will be closed Monday.

Kootenay Lake and Boundary schools will be closed Thursday.

BCTF President Jim Iker says he’s willing to make some compromise, but the government must re-think its approach and present a fair and reasonable wage offer.

Teachers are asking for 13.75% over four years.

The Province has offered a 7.25% over six years.
