Some closure in Slocan Lake canoeing tragedy

Some closure Wednesday for the families and community in the wake of the canoeing tragedy on Slocan Lake.

Idaho-based search company, Ralston & Associates successfully recovered 15 year old Jule Wiltshire-Padfield, 18 year old Skye Donnet and 21 year old Hayden Kyle from about 500-feet of icy water.

They used a remote vehicle with a clamp and tether which brought the victims to awaiting divers on the surface.

RCMP Sergeant Darryl Little says they then taken to a special area set up at the New Denver Marina.

Little says its been a traumatic time for everyone involved and he’s just glad the families have been re-united with their loved ones.

19 Year old Lily Harmer-Taylor also died when the canoe capsized May 10th.
