LKB Chief mixed on federal budget

A Creston area First Nations leader is cautiously optimistic about the federal budget.

Ktanaxa Chief Jason Louie calls the $4.2 billion earmarked for first nations improvements over 5-years significant .

But he’s leery of how the Lower Kootenay Band will fit into the fed’s spending plan.

Louie says he is concerned over the the lack of health funding.

The budget encompasses First Nation’s education, housing, child and family services and water infrastructure .
