Creston RCMP’s Staff Sergeant says Creston is experiencing a big city problem – dumpster diving.
Darryl Hammond says this was determined following an investigation into a complaint of someone going through the bins at the RDCK landfill.
Police learned the man lives in Nelson and travels throughout the Kootenays recovering items of value or use from residential garbages and dumpsters.
Hammond says RDCK landfills have signs posted prohibiting people from trespassing and scavenging.
