NDCC's ice plant needs major repairs

Less than a decade after it was installed the ice plant at Nelson’s Community Complex needs major repairs.

Community Services Manager Joe Chirico says the equipment is operating at less than peak efficiency.

Last week the Regional District awarded a $117,000 contract to Cimco Refrigeration to do the work.

The money comes from the operating budget so it won’t have any tax implications.

Chirico told the Board the problem lay in the original installation, but the company that did it no longer exists.
