RDCK decides against furniture contract review

The RDCK will not take an independent look at the awarding of their office furniture contract after all.

Last month Chair John Kettle called for an adjudicator to look over their process of awarding the contract to a Vancouver Island company.

He says respected local accountant Amed Naqvi was going to do it pro-bono but his association advised him not to.

Kettle says he could seek someone else but ultimately the RDCK Board has reviewed the process and the original decision stands.

Nelson’s Cowan Office Supply had quoted a lesser figure for the furniture but didn’t get the contract.

Kettle says he’s satisfied with the procurement process.
