Trail announces cuts to this year's downtown work

There are majorĀ cuts to the second phase of Trail’s Downtown Revitalization Project.

Over $200,000 worth of work is being droppedĀ from the Victoria Street corridor construction planned for this summer.

CAO David Perehudoff explains the decision was made after the contractor was hired andĀ took a detailed look at the workĀ following rough budget predictions.

The components that have been deferred, deleted or adjusted include, a West Side Major Gateway feature, a mini gateway, an info kiosk and site furniture.

While making the cuts to some components, the City has actually increased the total budget for the phase two work by over $120,000.
