Trans-boundary Columbia River conference scheduled

Columbia River Treaty discussions on either side of the border the last few years has led to an off-shoot event.

A trans-boundary conference featuring various community members, local representatives and stakeholders will happen in Spokane in October.

Nelson City Councillor Deb Kozak is one of the organizers and says they’re looking at various ways of talking about the entire Columbia system in its broadest terms.

Kozak says the recent treaty consultation process on both sides of the border highlighted the many benefits along the river and it makes sense for everyone to learn more about each section.
