Nelson’s system of management controls and monitoring of procurement is working.
This from City Manager Kevin Cormack in the wake of the scathing report by the Auditor General for Local Government about Rossland’s shortcomings.
Cormack says his Council is given quarterly reports showing all spending, tenders and RFP’s in line with what’s been agreed on in the Financial Plan.
And there are no limits on what he or his Chief Financial Officer can sign off on.
The AGLG recently found Rossland’s capital procurement process was compromised on two projects.
Half a million dollars in downtown upgrades was not authorized by Council and $700,000 in work had no written contracts.
