Arrow Lake water levels decreasing

With plenty of summer to go BC Hydro is reporting the levels on the Arrow Lake may dip as low as 28 feet below normal.

Company Spokesperson Mary Anne Coules says they’re predicting the level will drop to 1,403 feet by late August.

It is now the 3rd driest year of all time for the Lower Columbia system .

Current lake levels are at 1,418 feet.

Coules says because the United States is very dry as well they’ve had to allow even more water out of the reservoir in terms of the Columbia River Treaty.

But she says things could have been up to 20 feet lower had their operational planners not taken additional measures.
