Nelson council to discuss hospital laundry service

Nelson city council is to discuss petitioning Interior Health not to proceed with privatizing laundry service out of the region.

17 jobs would be lost at Nelson’s KLH along with many others across the region.

Councillor Michael Dailly will bring the matter forward next month and make the economic case.

It’s possible IH would look to Lower Mainland companies to handle the laundry.

The health authority says replacing ageing laundry machines is too costly and funds could be better spent on front line health care.
