Hydro phone scam won’t go away

The hydro phone scam isn’t going away.

Nelson police say they received a report from a local business that received a call from a person claiming to be employed by a local hydro company.

They were told their power would be disconnected if they didn’t immediately buy so-called Smart Pay cards and follow certain instructions.

Police say if you receive this sort of call do not provide any personal ID or info and call the hydro company back for confirmation.

If you’re still suspicious call the police.
