Kootenay Lake communities want fishery plan:Business Association

Kootenay Lake communities want to see a plan of action from the Ministry to address the plummeting stocks of Kokanee.

This from Randy Zelonka the President of the Balfour and District Business and Historic Association.

They hosted Monday night’s public meeting that saw around 300 concerned residents and outdoor groups show their concern about the impacts of the fishery collapse.

The economy is threatened as tourism sags due to the decline in trout which rely on Kokanee.

Zelonka says Ministry staff have committed to bring a team in to study the data and put a plan together.
