Police shooting probes still in limbo

The investigations into two fatal police shootings in our area remain in limbo.

In January 2015 Waylon Edey was shot and killed on the Kinnaird bridge during an attempted traffic stop.

The Independent Investigations Office submitted its report to crown counsel in December.

The BC Prosecution Service says it hasn’t completed the charge assessment process and they won’t make any promises about how long it might take.

Meanwhile the probe into the October 2014 death of Peter de Groot near Slocan isn’t finished.

The IIO says the file is still undergoing an internal review.

The families of both men have filed civil suits against the RCMP.
