The Kootenay Columbia School District is hiring.
They’ll be adding 25 full time equivalent teachers for the beginning of the next school year.
SD 20 will also pick up 30 substitute teachers.
They’ll be spread throughout the district for grades K-12.
SD 20’s teachers union president Andy Davidoff doesn’t feel they’ll have problems filling the positions.
But he worries about other districts.
The hirings are a result from a Supreme Court of Canada ruling dealing with the BC Teachers Union and the provincial government.
