RDCK Director says dredging the Grohman Narrows still relevant

A regional politician is still pushing BC Hydro to reconsider dredging the Grohman Narrows.

Kootenay Lake East Shore Director Garry Jackman believes the project is still viable and relevant, and there’s more technical info that BC Hydro lacked in the past.

He says for example, water levels on Kootenay Lake were almost two feet higher in April than the International Joint Commissions target level.

Jackman says warm springs are going to become the norm so it makes sense to look at the enhancement.

BC Hydro pulled the plug on dredging the Narrows because the flood control benefits wouldn’t justify the cost.
