Group applauds Nelson water crisis outreach

A group of concerned citizens in Nelson say the public outreach by the city regarding the depleted water supply is what they were looking for.

Earlier this month Jan Inglis and other climate change advocates had publicly called on the city to give the community more insight into the serious situation.

The city has since issued what they’ve labelled a call to action and a comprehensive document for a permanent water use reduction of 20%.

The city has stressed to the public that the key Five Mile Creek supply is the only accessible water source for Nelson in the fall and it is under pressure because of climate change.
