New Trail bridge piling and drilling

The first big action on Trail’s pedestrian pipe bridge project is expected to start on Monday of next week.

Engineer Technician for the city Warren Proulx says crews begin drilling for the 24 pilings that will hold the steel structure in place.

Pilings will go about 30 feet into bed rock on the south side of the Columbia River and about 100-feet down on the north side.

The pile-driving work will involve noise and vibrations and will happen from 7 am till 7 pm Monday through Saturday for about three months. They will take a break over Christmas and New Year.
