Castlegar ponders land offer for SPCA

It’s the strongest indication yet that a new regional BC SPCA facility will be in Castlegar.

The one in Trail is dilapidated and the SPCA has committed to shutting it down next year and investing funds into a new facility in the West Kootenay.

Castlegar mayor Lawrence Chernoff says they’re looking at land options to offer the agency.

A 1.2 acre site could be used for a full service SPCA to handle animals big and small.

Chernoff says Castlegar has lots of land parcels and it’s a case of finding the right one from a noise and space perspective.
