Nelson Landing gets approval

A lakeside development that has been years in the making has been approved by Nelson City Council.

Nelson Landing could eventually feature 265 residential units of various types between the water and the CP Rail line from the old KPF Mill site and beyond Red Sands Beach.

In a rare move the city has given the developer Allard Ockeloen 20 years to phase in the project.

He figures that’s an appropriate time given the variety of housing solutions that will evolve there.

The first 8-plex is expected to be built by next summer.

A 110-room hotel that was in the original plans some years ago has been dropped to allow for more housing.
